Counting Data collection (On-Board Vehicle Subsystem)
1

Processed count data could be wirelessly transmitted to Intechsys’s Data Collection or GNSS On-Board Units (DCU/GNSS OBU). Therefore PassCount is the first of its kind using on-board WiFi communication by deploying revolutionary flat WiFi antennas. To make sure that no data is lost DCU/OBU stores count and GPS/GLONASS NMEA RMC data, time stamps, maximum three input states, like doors open or closed statuses in real time in a database system. Moreover the 3D sensors are also able to store up to 40 records. The wireless 3D PassCount devices are made of plastic, while in case of wired solution could be made of metal enclosure as well. For wired data communication between sensors and DCU/OBU RS232/RS485/RS422 or CAN bus or IBIS interface is provided. Whole data communication is secure based on AES 128 bit encryption.

The 3D PassCount sensors are also features digital opto-coupled GPIO-s to directly communicate with intelligent doors to access doors open and close states to guarantee superior counting performance. Door open/close statuses could also be accessed by using DCU/OBU by getting signals directly from driver’s console for example. In this case DCU/OBU will transmits door statuses to sensors either via WiFi or other aforementioned fixed line communication.

Data transmission (ICT)
2

Measured counting data could be transmitted to host server via ordinary Internet technologies, like HTTPS/TCP/IP or UDP/IP. Fully automatic data transmission is also possible via:

  • - GSM/GPRS/EDGE/3G,
  • - WLAN to depot host PCs,

The Web Server of PassCount system equipped with adequate 3G mobile connection is able to carry out following tasks remotely:

  • - Direct call of any vehicle via CSD or green APN,
  • - Real time availability of on-board passenger data,
  • - Initiation of data transfer (download or upload),
  • - Carry out of maintenance tasks.

Besides of daily data transactions automatic status reports via email could also be sent according to customer demands.

Data processing (ERP + Expert)
3

For the processing and handling of obtained data various applications are available. The storage of system data, raw data and validated measured data is done in so called relational databases, such as MySQL or Oracle. PassCount software the PassengerInfo or BusInfo has report generation and statistical tools with following functions and features:

  • - Automatic data transmission and control,
  • - Plauzibility check of data,
  • - System administration,
  • - Fitting of measured counting data into actual routes,
  • - Verification of obtained data and alarming in case of exceeding limits, like fraud rate is over certain percentages compared to statistical averages, etc.,
  • - System calibration,
  • - Data control procession cycles,
  • - Many transport operators are using so called one door (first) entry scheme, where back doors are only entitled to be used for getting off the vehicle, hence alarming and recording of illegal entries at back doors is made possible.
  • - Reporting, forecasting, route analyses and decision support (expert systems), etc.

The success of public transportation operation is largely depends on the availability of data reflects the actual activity of the company. PassCount the automatic passenger counting and route, duty-monitoring system provides exact performance indicators and usage data to PTOs, cities and regions. These data serving as the basis of the evaluation of in time operational duties, making possible also the realization of business plans and leading to realistic parameter books, vehicle timetables.

Obtained data could be used at:

  • - regional transport authorities to measure performance (passenger load),
  • - to optimize passenger services,
  • - resource optimization including vehicles, personnel and costs,
  • - Fitting of measured counting data into actual routes,
  • - in service planning (new routes, enlarged passenger traffic, etc.,
  • - optimization of traffic plans and network.

The full system uses advanced technological solutions from data collection, transfer and via data processing. The solution could be used as self standing ("island") solution or as an integrated part of a larger system, for example connected to existing OBU of fleet management solution. User friendly easy to use iconic Web based user interface.
